In this one-time course, we'll talk about how to write a compelling college application essay and will work through a series of exercises to help jumpstart the writing process!

We’ll begin with a 20-25 minute introductory lesson on the elements of a strong college application essay, followed by a 5-10 minute question and answer session. We'll then spend approximately 20-25 minutes working through a series of brainstorming exercises designed to help students identify an appropriate and compelling topic for their essays, followed by the opportunity to share ideas and receive feedback. Next, we'll spend 20-25 minutes talking about organization and will engage in activities that will help your students shape their ideas into a solid outline. We'll conclude with a brief discussion of the next steps in the writing process, at which time I'll offer suggestions for how your students can build on the work we've done together to draft, revise, and polish their college admissions essays.
