In this Self-Paced course, there is no live instruction. The class will include multiple interactive activities (in the Outschool classroom). After completing the lesson, students will complete practice questions in Jamboard, Google forms, and Google slides. There will also be question/answer discussions so that students can share their knowledge for a better understanding of the topic. There is no pre-requisite knowledge required. This is the perfect class to start from the beginning to the end as it relates to fractions. We will review EVERYTHING from terminology, visual representations, simplifying, and common denominators, with plenty of practice using fractions with operations: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Some sessions work with the same and different denominators, as well as one that reviews how to carry and borrow when adding and subtracting fractions. This is a comprehensive course directed to help your learner become more confident when working with fractions. The course material will be posted at the start of each week (Monday): 1 - Comparing Fractions. Discuss how to compare (greater, less, or equal to) and sort in ascending and descending. 2 - Adding Fractions (without Regrouping). Add fractions with the same and different denominators. 3 - Subtracting Fractions (without Regrouping). Subtract fractions with the same and different denominators. 4 - Adding and Subtracting (with Regrouping). How to "carry" and "borrow" when adding and subtracting fractions. 5 - Multiplying Fractions. Using proper fractions, mixed and whole numbers - as well as simplifying fractions. 6 - Dividing Fractions. Using proper fractions, mixed and whole numbers - as well as simplifying fractions.

Hello! My name is Ms. Ann and I have been a teacher for over a decade in the beautiful state of VA. I have taught several grades in both Elementary and Middle School. I love to teach. I think the best part of teaching is sharing my knowledge in a variety of subjects and helping students make connections to previous experiences or existing background knowledge.
I am a certified teacher in all core subjects: math, history, science, and language arts (grades K-8 and gifted education). I believe that successful teaching includes building relationships, interest, and engagement with students. When students are interested in the topic, they are more willing to participate, ask questions, and ultimately master the content.
I hope to see you in class soon!
