This class is part of a series of patriotic classes exploring American Symbols. The class will begin with a welcome song. Learners will then view photos through a PowerPoint slideshow. I will use questioning techniques and discussion as students interact with each other and with me. My excitement about American symbols began with my travels to Washington, DC. I loved stepping onto the exact spot Martin Luther King Jr. stood for his iconic I Have a Dream speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Walking through the White House thrilled me as I imagined the historic individuals who had walked its halls. I have enthusiastically taught many learners about Washington, DC through books, music, and plays. I'm so excited to share American symbols with Outschool students! I am a teacher certified to teach elementary grades 1-6 and deaf/HH students pre-K-12. I worked as an educational interpreter for several years and as an elementary teacher for many years. My education and work experience have provided the skills to teach American Sign Language and American History to learners on Outschool.
