This is a two day class because the rocking chair will take at least that long to make. We will complete as much of the chair as possible in the first 55 minute session and continue working on the chair in the second session. The students will learn a new hobby. They will learn how to cut an aluminum can and turn it into a work of art. In this two part lesson the students will make a rocking chair. I have another class in which we will make a vintage chair.
I used to make these chairs all the time when I was 10 years old. It's a unique, fun and creative hobby! I spent hours making chairs and other can crafts, long before the Internet with pictures and instructions. I just made them up! I wanted to share my experience with your learner.

The students will be cutting and bending aluminum with scissors and needle-nose pliers, measuring with a ruler and operating a hot glue gun, so they should be able to do this independently. Assistance might be needed for the first class until the students learn the curling and clamping techniques.
