In this one time class, students will actively listen to a fiction robot story called Robot Crash by Joy Cowley and illustrated by Lorenzo Van Der Lingen. The students will discuss the characters and setting of the story as well as the problem in the story. The students will make text to self connections to further reading comprehension. The students will then follow directions to draw a step by step robot with the teacher. The students will be encouraged to share their robot with other...
Students will use listening skills to actively listen to a fiction story. Students will use comprehension skills to discuss characters in the story. Students will use comprehension skills to discuss the setting of the story. Students will use comprehension skills to discuss the problem in the story. Students will use comprehension skills to make text to self connections. Students will use listening skills to follow directions to create a robot. Students will use creative skills to draw and color a robot. Students will use social skills to share their finished project, if they feel comfortable doing so.
Students will need white paper and crayons or colored pencils.
