課堂經歷

This class will begin with a brief lecture to explain the form of poetry called Haiku. Next, I will work with each learner to brainstorm topic ideas in order to get them started writing their own Haiku poem that they may choose to share with the class. I will be interacting with each student as they write their own Haiku, in order to answer questions and give feedback on their ideas. We will discuss how each of their poems fit into the Haiku form. No previous experience with poetry is needed. Please bring a few sheets of paper and a pen or pencil to the class.
學習目標
Students will learn what makes a poem a Haiku. They will also learn a brainstorming technique to develop topic ideas in preparation for writing their own Haiku. Students will also learn the basics of a writing workshop, where we share our writing and discuss how it fits into the Haiku form.

教師專業知識和證書
I teach writing and literature classes. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Writing from George Mason University and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from the University of Memphis. In addition to having college teaching experience, I have also taught for Johns Hopkins University's Center for Talented Youth, which is a gifted children's residential summer camp. I believe that everyone can be a good writer...it just takes practice! I love cats and named our oldest cat Boo Radley, after a character in one of my favorite novels, _To Kill a Mockingbird_.
