每週 2-4 小時. Assignments and Exit Quizzes are assigned weekly from 1 to 3 lessons per week. Students will spend 2 to 4 hours to complete.

Requirements: Students should expect to have homework almost every day/night in this class. It is strongly recommended that students set aside at least 20 minutes per day for doing homework. Homework will be graded for understanding each week. Homework is 10% of overall grade. Quizzes and tests make up the majority of a students’ course grade. But remember, if you aren’t practicing the math we are learning by doing your homework and class work on a regular basis, your scores on these quizzes/tests will more than likely be lower than they would be if you did do your homework every day. Quizzes are 25% and Tests are 60%of overall grade. Other possible grade includes attendance and participation. Attendance/participation is worth 5% of overall grade. Grading Scale Description A 90-100% Exceeds Expectations; Independent learner; superior work; all work completed on time at an exceptional level of quality and effort; B 80-89% Meets Expectations; Semi-independent learner; above average work; all work completed on time; did quality work with a few flaws; C 70-79% Passing but does not meet some standards; Dependent learner; average work; most completed on time showing average effort; D 60-69% Passing but only meets minimum standards; Dependent learner; average work; most completed late showing below average effort; F <60% Failing, does not meet minimum standards; Failure; does not meet standards or expectations.

This course will begin by analyzing and solving simultaneous linear equations and inequalities using various methods. Next explore the properties of integer exponents to generate expressions and solve problems including rational exponents and radicals with exponential functions finding growth and decay real world problems. We will continue moving into polynomial functions adding and subtracting, multiplying, and factoring quadratic equations using several methods including the quadratic formula.

Students will use hands-on materials and calculators when needed in solving problems where the concepts are applied.  Students who complete Algebra 1  - Semester 1 need to complete Semester 2 to receive a full year of the concepts.  It is important for students to be successful in Algebra 1 concepts to move on to Geometry.

Students learn extensively from and by examples, and through problem discussions. A variety of instructional methods are used to enhance students' problem-solving abilities. Students tackle many complicated problems using inductive and deductive reasoning approaches.  Students will be prepared to:
- understand that solutions to systems of two linear equations and inequalities corresponds to the intersection of their graphs.
- solve systems of two linear equations and inequalities algebraically, and graphically.

- write arithmetic and geometric sequences both recursively and with an explicit formula.us
- use mean and standard deviation of a set of data to fit it to a normal distribution.
- use calculators, spreadsheets, and tables

This class is fast moving. I teach 3-4 days of lessons in one hour. Students will need to complete 3 days of Homework plus an Exit Quiz for each lesson. I will check the work and send it back once a week. Corrections and re-submissions are accepted.

Curriculum materials will be provided by the instructor.  Students will need a printer to print notes and assignments.  A basic calculator is needed (TI-30x) or a graphing calculator (TI-84).  Also students can use a calculator the website for Desmos these graphs can be saved and attached to homework assignments.

I will attach(in OUTSCHOOL) weekly curriculum materials. Materials: Each student must bring the following to class meetings weekly:
1. Pen and pencil (including colored pencils)
2. Texas Instrument Calculator (Ti-83 or Higher) or on-line graphing calculator DESMOS
3. Folder (preferably a 3-ring binder with dividers) to hold class work and assessments
4. Graph Paper
5. Highlighters for notes

I am offering this series of classes because I have taught this subject before many times.  I get very excited to see students that want to find out new things as well as use what they have already learned in math.   I believe that all students can learn math if given different approaches.  Everyone does not learn the same way so I offer a variety of methods.  Please see for yourself.
