***𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗰𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸.*** Alfred Hitchcock was a highly influential and pioneering filmmaker who is widely regarded as one of the greatest directors in the history of cinema. Hitchcock's distinctive style of filmmaking is still used in films today. He was a master of the thriller genre, known for his psychological thrillers and his use of twists and surprises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Learners will delve into the intricate details of the movie! They will venture into the hearts and minds of the characters, decipher the life lessons tucked within the storyline, and unravel and scrutinize Hitchcock's carefully crafted settings. As they navigate through each film, learners will unearth the underlying theme that ties the movie all together. Learners will be equipped with a movie watching handout that is designed to get them thinking with questions to consider before, during, and after the movie. During the classroom discussion learners will be sharing their perspectives, insights, and interpretations with their peers. Together, we will explore the depths of the movie and examine if these classic films stand the test of time. But that's not all - we will also be exploring the full spectrum of emotions that movies can evoke. From spine-tingling scares to belly-aching laughs, we'll be dissecting what makes these films so effective at tapping into our deepest fears and desires. And let's not forget the rich cast of characters that inhabit these movies! We'll be studying their journeys, analyzing their motivations, and drawing valuable lessons from their experiences. Through their struggles and triumphs, we'll gain new insights into ourselves and the world around us. • Learners will develop skills to help them think critically about the themes presented and if they are accurate representations. • Defend their opinions about the film while being respectful of the opinion of others. • Decide if the movie is relatable to their own lives. Students are responsible for watching the movie prior to class. Movies are available to rent on various streaming platforms: Amazon Prime Video, You Tube, Vudu, Google Play Movies & TV. They may also be available at your local library. Use this button to prevent any future weekly charges, starting with the following billing period, which rolls over Sunday mornings Pacific time. You can use this to stop future charges at any time. There will be no refunds issued for a student(s) missing class. 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆: If your learner misses a class meeting, you are not entitled to a refund. If your learner misses 3 consecutive class live meetings without communicating with the teacher, you forfeit the class fee and the teacher may cancel the class or withdraw your learner.” 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆: Please note that per Outschool policy, if there are 0 students after the first 10 minutes of the class, the class will be canceled for that day. The live meetings are scheduled for 50 minutes; however, depending upon the number of students and the amount of participation from the class, some live meetings may be shorter than 50 minutes. If the teacher needs to cancel class a makeup class will be assigned. If the student is unable to attend the makeup class a refund will be issued after the makeup class. 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆: When you enroll your child in my classes, you are paying for a live, interactive group learning experience. To maintain the integrity of this format, I do not release recordings of my live classes. The decision not to share recordings is to protect the safety and privacy of all learners. Many families prefer that recordings of their children not be made available to others, and I fully respect and prioritize that preference. Additionally, this policy helps safeguard my intellectual property, as the lessons I teach are original content I have personally developed. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for educational materials to be misused or copied without permission. Thank you for your understanding and support in creating a safe and respectful learning environment.

𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢, where curiosity takes the reins! I'm Kathy, your guide on this exciting journey of exploration.
In our classroom, we embrace The Socratic Method, believing that questions fuel our learning. Together, we'll form our circle of inquiry – a safe space where we're free to delve into our thoughts, respect diverse perspectives, and discover more about ourselves along the way. My classes focus around the philosophical questions that we experience in our daily lives, books, and movies.
A bit about me: I have a BFA from The School of Visual Arts. As an ACE Teacher on Outschool, I've embraced Professional Development Training, honing Outschool's three core principles: Agency, Community, & Expertise.
I bring to our classes a variety of experiences, having donned various hats – from a 15-year stint as an Advertising Executive in corporate America to roles as a Homeschool Teacher and ESL Teacher. I'm a book enthusiast, everything from classics to contemporary themes, even enjoying a bit of mind candy. My passion extends to old movies, where I enjoy introducing timeless classics from the Golden Age of Hollywood to students. Having guided my own children through high school and on to college, I collaborate with local homeschoolers, teaching philosophy, literature, movie studies, and facilitating open discussions on diverse topics like Philosophy, Banned Books, Novel Studies, Hollywood movies, and Women's Studies.
Beyond the classroom, you will find me singing loudly and unapologetically in the car and enjoying moments with family. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀:
𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗬: I have a limited refund policy, which means refunds are available up to 7 days before class starts (or within 24 hours of enrollment). As your enrollment reserves the spot for your child (and prevents another child from taking that spot), I do not issue refunds for late withdrawals or missed classes.
