This class is excellent for young students who would like to learn more about the history of Harriet Tubman. They will learn about who she was and what she did to help people who were still enslaved escape to freedom. Students will learn about the challenge she faced, how she overcame them, and why she is an important historical figure in America today. We will have a class discussion about this topic. Each student will have the opportunity to interact with each other and share their thoughts, opinions and feelings on the lesson. Since this topic is related to African American history, we will discuss the following topics: racism, inequality, and slavery. Students will be able to kindly express their thoughts and opinions on these topics, as well as understand how they each applied during Harriet Tubman's life.

Students will learn about what slavery is, and how it pertained to Harriet Tubman's Life. Student will learn about racism. Topics such as slavery, cruelty, and what is happening today in America could be discussed in class as well.

As an ESL Teacher and Tutor, I have taught classes on African American history, American Figures, and the civil rights movement for over 4 years. I have experience in teaching this subject to students in elementary, middle, and high school. I also have experience tutoring college students. I have a degree in Communications, so I will be able to communicate and teach this topic without being bias. I was able to research, write essays, and give speeches about this topic throughout college. Most importantly, I will allow each student to express their thoughts and opinions about this topic. This will help them communicate and show what they have learned. It is very important to include all students.
