In this dynamic weekly class, advanced Scratch students will think like designers, diving into creative coding projects that include games and animations. Learners will build their skills in various coding concepts such as sequencing, loops, conditionals, variables, sensors, operators, and debugging, making each session an exciting learning experience! 🤖🎨 ✨ Class Structure: Welcome & Introductions (5 mins) 🎤: We'll kick things off with a warm welcome and introductions to create a friendly atmosphere. Collaborative Scratch Project (30 mins) 💻: Students will collaborate on an engaging project, applying their knowledge and creativity to build a game together. Brainstorming & Customization (15 mins) 💡: After coding, students will have time to brainstorm ideas and customize their games, adding unique elements that reflect their creativity. Showcase & Goodbyes (5 mins) 👾: The class wraps up with students showcasing their projects, allowing them to share their hard work and learn from each other. 🌟 This class is designed for advanced Scratch users, who are familiar with Scratch blocks and have completed prior projects. Our intimate class size, capped at 6 students, ensures a highly interactive environment where I can provide personalized support and guidance. If a student misses a session, a starter file will be sent to help them catch up so they can seamlessly join their classmates. Students can join this ongoing class at any time! 🎨 Themes: February 17th-March 16th: Run a Restaurant March 17th -April 13th: Fairy Tales April 14th-May 11th: Planetary Exploration June 9th-July 6th: Magical Creatures Please Note: This class runs on a set schedule, with lessons progressing through a 4-week cycle. New learners are welcome to join at any point during the cycle, but they may start partway through an ongoing project. If you’d prefer to begin at the start of a new cycle, feel free to check with us above for the upcoming schedule! 💻 Note for Parents: Your student will need a free Scratch account. Visit Scratch to create one! A laptop or desktop computer with Zoom installed and screen-sharing enabled is essential. An internet connection of 3mbs+ is required. A working speaker, microphone, and webcam—compatible with all Windows and Mac operating systems from the past five years—are necessary. Note: iPads are not compatible due to keyboard usage. Please ensure an adult is available for the first 5 minutes of class to assist with setup and troubleshooting.
學習目標
By the end of this class, students will confidently code and design advanced unique projects in Scratch. They will master essential coding concepts, including sequencing, loops, conditionals, and variables, preparing them for future challenges in coding.
