In this course students will get to perform songs of their choice and learn how to make strong acting choices while singing. Each week students will be able to perform a song of their choice either a cappella (no music) or with a karaoke track that they provide. It is recommended that students use songs from musical theatre however they are free to bring whatever they want to work on. This is a perfect class for any singers who want to act in addition to sing. 

This is not a music technique class. Students will not be critiqued on their singing ability but rather encouraged to approach each song as an actor. This class is for all levels - no prior experience required. Each class will begin with a brief acting or vocal exercise followed by students performing their song. After each performance students will be given feedback and have an interactive discussion on what their song is about, who their character is, and why they are singing what they are singing. Students will then be able to perform their song again using the feedback provided. Students will also be encouraged to take notes while others are performing so they can get the most out of the class and learn from others. 

PLEASE NOTE: All songs must be under two minutes in length or students may chose to sing a part of song. Students will be cut off after two minutes if the class is full so please try to keep it under a minute and half to avoid being stopped in the middle of your performance.
