Students will learn in a variety of manners. The teacher will utilize visuals such as a read-aloud and various props and manipulatives. Students will interact with the teacher and each other by participating in open discussion and answering Check for Understanding (CUD) questions that the teacher asks throughout the read-aloud and activities. Class time will be structured as follows: An introduction from the teacher and cookie monster, a brief "get-to-know-you" activity, a read-aloud with Cookie Monster ("The ABCs of Cookies"), recitation/performance of the ABCs, counting cookies with Cookie Monster, and a simple "Cookie Craft" at the end to reinforce the concepts taught. The topics covered will be: review of the ABCs, rote counting from 1-10, one-to-one correspondence, following directions, and fine motor skills.學習目標
Students will improve their understanding of the alphabet, counting to 10, and one-to-one correspondence. They will apply their knowledge at the end with a "Cookie Craft" that involves both letter writing and counting.

The teacher will provide the link to the read-aloud, and will give other suggestions for resources as requested by parents for any part of the lesson that needs reinforced. Students will not need to purchase any materials, but should have paper and materials to color with.

I am offering this class in particular due to my expertise in the early childhood area. This is my area of certification, and I student taught in kindergarten. I have vast experience in actively engaging young children in the learning process, and my personal experience with the alphabet and counting combined with my creativity in using props and music will make this a unique and fun class for your child to practice their skills!評論
