Learners will explore events surrounding The Edenton Tea Party, the 1774 resolution signed by 51 local North Carolina women, pledging to boycott English tea and cloth. Through a slide presentation, students will compare this action to the better known Boston Tea Party. After viewing news stories and public reactions to both "tea parties", we will discuss how each matter was viewed by the press. Learners will examine the Tea Act of 1773, which sparked these two events. Using a worksheet I will provide as a guide, students will outline basic facts for a news story about The Edenton Tea Party, and will have the opportunity to share their work with the class. Please note that I do not cancel classes for low enrollment. I love teaching to a single learner or group of students.

Students will sharpen their skills of evaluating sources, looking at points of view, understanding historical significance and making comparisons as we learn about the Edenton Tea Party and the Boston Tea Party.
