課堂經歷
This fun and interactive class provides a complete overview to students as to how the Japanese language works.
Students will learn:
- How to identify the difference between Japanese and Chinese
- How and why Japanese has three alphabets (Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana).
- The unusual way the Japanese read their books!
- The meaning and pronunciation of a couple Chinese characters (Kanji)
- Where Kanji came from
- How to read a few letters from the Hiragana alphabet.
- with...I graduated from university in 2005 with a BA in East Asian studies and minors in Japanese and East Asian Philosophy. After graduating, I lived and worked in Sendai, Japan for two years as an elementary and middle school teacher. Since then, I have tutored students of all ages in Japanese, worked in a Montessori school with children ages 2-12, and formerly ran a Japanese language group for several years. I have also given many presentations to elementary and middle school children about Japanese culture and language. I am currently persuing my graduate degree in Linguistics research and plan to get a PhD.
