My teaching philosophy is that students learn the best when they are engaged and having fun. I spend a few minutes at the beginning of each class to get to know my students and for them to get to know me. I feel that this creates a bond of trust that helps make learning more fun and personalized. I try to make my teaching and practice questions relate to the students' lives and interests.          
 
Each student will receive a Google Slide presentation that they will open and use in every class to practice and take quizzes and assessments. The beginning of each class will be a review of previously learned material. Followed by teaching the new material of the day/week. Then, practicing the new material as a class and individually. At the end of a Topic we will review on Kahoot! and/or take a short quiz.

This course will cover 8th grade math topics. However, not all students are at the same level at the same time. Before taking this class, students should have been introduced to and have a basic understanding of the following concepts: multiplying, and dividing integers, and rational numbers; equations and, inequalities; ratios, circles, angles, perimeter, area, and volume. If you are not sure of your child’s understanding in these areas, please contact me and we can arrange a 1:1 assessment of their math level for class placement.
