學習目標

Learning goals (math) - Learners will gain a confidence with fractions by reading, writing, and modeling fractions. They will solve problems containing fractional parts of a region or a collection while being able to describe and explain any strategies they use. When learners are given a fractional part of a region, they will be able to identify the unit whole. They will find multiples of whole numbers less than 10 and be able to find whole-number factors of numbers. Learners will also master addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and start to explore geometry. They will read as well as create their own charts, graphs, and tables.

Learning goals (reading) - Learners will work to analyze when reading, not only for plot, but for deeper meaning and hidden messages within text. They will be able to answer higher level thinking questions, pertaining to what they've read.

Learning goals (writing) - Learners will be able to use effective oral communication skills, write in a variety of styles including narrative, descriptive, opinion, and expository. Learners will also practice self and peer (student examples) editing for capitalization, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and paragraphing.

Learning goals (science) - Learners will gain and display an understanding in natural processes, analyzing data, scientific concepts, scientific activities, various organisms, energy, and waves.

Learning goals (social studies) - Learners will be able to use maps to gain a deeper understanding of geography and how geography affects a community, as well as be able to interpret and understand the basis of U.S. history (for example: the main ideas in the constitution, bill of rights, and the chains of government). Learners will also be able to explain the culture of various diverse groups, by creating research projects that display various cultures affectively.

其他詳情

供應清單
Learners will need a lined paper notebook for writing/math, graphing paper for math, and I will have a file posted to the classroom once enrolled, that will have print outs we will need for the first month of class.

Materials will be posted on a monthly basis, so you won't need to print it all out at once!

I recommend a 1 inch binder (or a folder) for each subject we will cover (reading and writing, math, social studies, and science), this way your learner will be able to keep their worksheets/papers organized and ready to go for each time we meet.

We will do a few fun science experiments, but we won't need anything other than basic supplies likely found around the house. (I will post a list of those supplies to the classroom as well, with the monthly print outs)
