Welcome to my 4 Day Summer Boot Camp "Earth Science of World Building"

Here we spend 4 consecutive days revealing the secrets of how to build a scientifically accurate fantasy map. We will start by learning some basic Earth Science relevant to climate zones, ocean circuits and weather patterns. Then apply these to the supercontinent Pangea that existed around 220 million years ago, to recreate what its climate zones must have looked like. Then we can apply this knowledge to well known fantasy maps, such as Tolkein's Middle Earth and any other fantasy maps that the students want to create or examine. Classes will be in a lecture style using multi-media PowerPoint slides with opportunities for questions. We will cover the following topics:

1) Global Weather Patterns
2) Global Ocean Patterns
3) Mountains, Rivers & Deserts
4) Science and Map Making
