In ELA and Math, I will cover a unit/theme each week.

Our weekly schedule is as follows, with exceptions during longer writing or reading assignments:

Reading: Activate Prior Knowledge, Build Background, Make Predictions, Learn New Vocabulary, Learn New Grammar Rules, and Learn a Phonics Skill
Math: Teacher Introduces and Models New Topic/Guided Activity

Wednesday:
Reading: Review Vocabulary, Read the Story, Reading Strategy or Skill, Review Phonics, Writing/Grammar
Math: Review Topic or Unit/ Guided Activity/Independent Activity

Thursday:
Reading: Review Vocabulary, Retell Story, Review Strategy or Skill, Review Phonics, Review Grammar, Finish Writing
Math: Review Topic or Unit/ Independent Activity/ Review with Teacher

Here is an example of the first 4 weeks:

Week of Sept. 10th
Tuesday:
Reading: Book: Morty and the Oatmeal Babysitter, by Kathy Hogan. Activate Prior Knowledge, Build Background, Learn New Vocabulary, and Make Predictions. Grammar: Introduction and Guided Practice on Identifying and Forming Contractions Phonics Work: Introduction and Guided Practice on Compound Words
Math: This month, we will focus on Operations and Algebraic Thinking. We will count equal groups, identify multiplication sentences for equal groups, and write multiplication sentences for equal groups.

Wednesday:
Reading: We will review vocabulary, we will read the story in alternating methods, such as independent, choral, echo, and reading aloud. Writing/Grammar
Math: This month we will focus on Operations and Algebraic Thinking. We will review yesterday's lesson and learn to relate addition and multiplication for equal groups, identify multiplication expressions for arrays, write multiplication sentences for arrays, and make arrays to model multiplication.

Thursday:
Reading: Review Vocabulary, Retell Story, Review Strategy or Skill, Review Phonics, Review Grammar, Finish Writing
Math: Review Weekly Topics and Unit/ Independent Activity/ Review with Teacher

Week of Sept. 17th

Tuesday:
Reading: The students will be introduced to the new story, Awesome Ants, by Rus Buyok. We will learn new vocabulary. We will activate prior knowledge by discussing what we already know about ants. We will create a KWL chart about Ants, including: What do we already know? What do we want to learn?
Math: This month, we will focus on Operations and Algebraic Thinking. Introduction and Guided Lessons so that students will relate addition and multiplication expressions for equal groups, identify multiplication expressions for arrays, and write multiplication sentences for arrays.

Wednesday:
Reading: We will review vocabulary and review our KWL chart. Next, we will read the story in alternating methods, such as independent, choral, echo, and reading aloud. We will add to our chart what we "Learned." Writing: We will jot down information that we found informative, exciting, and/or interesting.
Math: This month, we will focus on Operations and Algebraic Thinking. Review and Guide lessons so students will relate addition and multiplication expressions for equal groups, identify multiplication expressions for arrays and write multiplication sentences for arrays.

Thursday:
Reading: Reading: We will review our KWL chart. We will discuss how fiction and non-fiction differ. Students will fill out a chart explaining the story, what they learned, and what was the most exciting part.
Math: This month, we will focus on Operations and Algebraic Thinking. Review and independent practice so students relate addition and multiplication expressions for equal groups, identify multiplication expressions for arrays, and write multiplication sentences for arrays.

Week of Sept. 24th

Tuesday:
Reading: The students will be introduced to the new story, Arthur's Bad-News Day, by Lara Henderson Megard. We will learn new vocabulary and make predictions using the story's vocabulary and title. We will activate prior knowledge by discussing what we already know about having a bad day. We will discuss how sometimes a bad thing becomes a good thing. Grammar: Introduction and Guided Practice on Exclamatory Sentences. Phonics Work: Introduction and Guided Practice on Open /Y/ that makes a long /e/ sound.
Math: This month, we will focus on Operations and Algebraic Thinking. We will multiply using number lines, write multiplication sentences for number lines, relate addition and multiplication, and write two multiplication sentences for an array.

Wednesday:
Reading: We will review vocabulary and discuss predictions Next we will read the story in alternating methods, such as independent, choral, echo, and reading aloud. We will revise and/or confirm predictions along the way. Writing: We will create a web on whether we would like or not like a brother or sister and why. Grammar: Review and Guided Practice on Exclamatory sentences. Phonics Work: Review and Guided practice on Open /y/ that makes the long /e/ sound.
Math: Math: This month we will focus on Operations and Algebraic Thinking. We will multiply using number lines, write multiplication sentences for number lines, relate addition and multiplication, and write two multiplication sentences for an array.

Thursday:
Reading: We will review vocabulary and retell the story. Next, we will discuss our views on whether you would want another brother or sister. We will write a paragraph together. Grammar: Review and Guided Practice on Exclamatory sentences. Phonics Work: Review and Guided practice on Open /y/ that makes the long /e/ sound.
Math: This month, we will focus on Operations and Algebraic Thinking. We will multiply use number lines, write multiplication sentences for number lines, relate addition and multiplication, and write two multiplication sentences for an array.

Fall Break Week of October 1st

Week of October 8th
Monday:

We will learn new vocabulary and discuss what it means to be extreme and if they know any animals that are extreme. Grammar: Identify comparative and superlatives. Phonics Work: Understand and identify synonyms.
Math: This month, we will focus on Operations and Algebraic Thinking. We will multiply using number lines, write multiplication sentences for number lines, relate addition and multiplication, and write two multiplication sentences for an array.

Wednesday:
Reading: We will review vocabulary and discuss predictions. Next, we will read the story in alternating methods, such as independent, choral, echo, and reading aloud. We will summarize sections as we read. Writing: We will create a web on whether we would like or not like a brother or sister and why. Grammar: Identify comparative and superlatives. Phonics Work: Understand and identify synonyms.
