🌟 Join me as we we discover the wonders of the world through English in a private (1:1) class that covers the full 3rd Grade ELA curriculum. 🌟 Dive into exciting stories and topics and decrypt the magical code of phonics! 🌟 By the end of the year learners will confidently achieve excellent grade 3 skills in writing, reading, spelling and grammar! 🌟 Learners will receive personalized feedback and continuous support in class and out. This is a private class, so the pace and difficulty level of the lesson will be set at your child’s level. Beginners will be guided step-by-step and advanced students will be challenged. 🌟This is an inclusive classroom environment and learners are welcome to participate in any way they feel most comfortable. All learners are unique and bring their strengths into the classroom. 🌟 Students are welcome to join at any time during the year. Lessons are modular. Learners will be provided with everything they need to thrive in class. 🌟 Lessons will typically entail a warm-up, pre-teaching, class discussion then practice. If learners are required to bring materials to the lesson, I will let your child know on the class notice board ahead of time. I have been teaching academic literacy for almost twenty years. The course outline: Writing - Letter writing - Book reports - Opinion paragraphs - Informative paragraphs - Persuasive essays - Summary Writing - Instructions - Journals - Creative writing: poetry, narrative, fiction Reading - Non-fiction articles - Biographies - Myths - Fables - Realistic fiction - Poetry - Drama - Introduction to literary devices: alliteration, figurative language, onomatopoeia, sensory language, personification Phonics - Decoding skills - Syllable Types - Prefixes, suffixes and root words - Challenging words that cannot be read phonetically - Long and short vowels - Phonograms (consonant and vowel digraphs and trigraphs) - Phonogram sound variations - Soft G and C - Y in the middle of a word - High frequency words
