This class will cover a full year of second grade math. I believe that learning should be engaging, interactive, and hands-on. I will use the I do, We do, You do teaching format. Each class will have a mini lesson where the teaching topic of the day will be introduced, group practice, and independent practice. I will use interactive slides and/or Jamboard in my lessons. See below for the breakdown of math topics that will be taught this school year: 2023-2024 School Year First Day will be September 12, 2023 Week 1: Intro to Numbers-even/odd and skip counting Week 2: Place Value (Hundreds, Tens, and Ones) Week 3: Place Value (Thousands, Hundreds, Tens, and Ones) Week 4: Comparing and Ordering Numbers Week 5: Addition Fact Fluency Week 6: Subtraction Fact Fluency Week 7: 2-digit addition without regrouping Week 8: 2-digit subtraction without regrouping Week 9: 2D shapes Week 10: 3D shapes Fall Break: No Class November 20th-November 24th Week 11: Fractions-partitioning and naming Week 12: fractions- understanding share and parts Week 13: 2-digit addition with regrouping Week 14: 3-digit addition with regrouping Winter Break: No classes Dec 25th-Jan 5th Week 15: 2-digit subtraction with regrouping Week 16: 3-digit subtraction with regrouping Week 17: Measurement-inches, feet, yards Week 18: Area and partitioning rectangles Week 19: Measurement-centimeters and meters Week 20: solving word problems involving length using number lines Week 21: telling time to quarter hour and 5 minutes (am/pm) Week 22: telling time to the nearest 5 minutes or nearest minute (am/pm) Week 23: Bar Graphs Week 24: Pictographs Week 25: Line Plots Spring Break: No class March 25th-March 29th Week 26: Solving Word problems with data and graphs Week 27: multiplication situations- repeated addition and equal groups Week 28: multiplication situations- arrays Week 29: division- separating into equal groups Week 30: multiplication and division word problems Week 31: missing numbers Week 32: add or subtract 10 and 100 using open number lines

I will provide weekly curriculum handouts each week. Students should have paper and a pencil or a whiteboard and whiteboard marker. Any additional supplies needed specific to each week will be listed in the weekly handouts and posted in the classroom comments.
