Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
Whether your learner is just starting to count or ready to jump into addition and subtraction, this 1:1 class is designed to help them thrive in math!

If this is our first time meeting, we'll spend part of our initial session completing a short assessment to discover where your learner is at. Throughout our lessons, I love incorporating games to make learning fun, such as feeding our math monster, opening up mystery boxes, etc!

Depending on where your learner is at, we will focus on any of these topics:

✨Counting & Number Recognition: Counting up to 100 (not all once as some learners may be ready to count up to 20 and some are ready for 100) (:
✨Skip Counting: Practicing counting by 2's, 5's and 10's, which makes counting up to bigger numbers easier.
✨Number Writing Practice: Writing numbers clearly and correctly, building both number recognition and fine motor skills.
✨Shapes & Patterns: Recognizing 2D & 3D shapes, plus sorting them into patterns for pattern recognition.
✨Basic Addition & Subtraction: When ready, we'll explore these concepts through number problems and incorporate word problems that make this topic easier to comprehend.
✨Comparing Quantities: Focusing on "more than," "less than," and "equal to" using real-life examples that make these concepts crystal clear.
✨Measurement: Diving into beginner measurement concepts like length and size through hands-on comparing and estimating activities.
✨Ordinal Numbers: Exploring concepts like "first," "second," and "third" through examples that connect to daily life.
✨Simple Sorting: Organizing information visually by sorting objects.
✨Real Life Math Concepts: Exploring basic time-telling concepts, counting money, etc.
✨Problem Solving: Naturally this is learned as many of the topics above include problem solving through real life examples and word problems.

I look forward to meeting your learner in class!

OUR TEACHERS:

✨HEAVEN LEIGH
I have taught learners of all ages in various subjects, such as ESL, phonics, public speaking, math, reading, and lots more! I homeschool my 3 kiddos between Pre-K & 2nd grade. I have a Master of Business Administration and have been an entrepreneur for 10 years, while serving business owners since 2017. In my classes, you'll find that I love to teach different areas of business, life skills, and elementary education -- and for fun, Pokémon and K-Pop! My teaching style is engaging and enthusiastic!
Primary classes: Business mentoring, reading/math tutoring, k-pop, sight words.

✨MS. CRISSY
I bring a fun, energetic approach to my classes! I enjoy helping students build their phonics & math skills in an engaging way and have taught small groups of children between the ages of 3-6. For fun, I also love k-pop & enjoy sharing this passion! I always aim to create a positive, encouraging environment where students can thrive. I have a very bubbly personality, which you'll see in our classes! (:
Primary classes: K-pop, phonics, math tutoring.

✨YAZ SANTOS
I am a passionate psychology major and avid Pokémon fan. I enjoy online gaming as a hobby while on the other hand, studying child psychology and development. My purpose in our classes is to ensure all students feel heard and open to share their ideas. As a Pokémon fan, I've played Pokémon since I was the same age as our youngest learners, which is why I believe it's important for all students to feel welcome, whether they're a new Pokémon trainer or have mastered the topic! My teaching style is playful and inviting.
Primary classes: Pokémon!

✨KIJUANA GRIFFIN (MS. K)
I have enjoyed working in both childcare and early education, where I’ve developed a passion for teaching phonics and early reading with a bonus of being a grandmother to many little ones! (: I love fostering curiosity with young minds to explore the world around them and learn through play & guidance. My teaching style is all about creating a supportive and engaging environment, where we can have as much fun as we can!
Primary classes: Phonics, sight words, phonics & pre-reader tutoring.

📆 SCHEDULE/CLASS REQUESTS:
We have scheduled times available for each class within the next 1-2 weeks to continuously offer different times. Beyond 2 weeks are based on demand/parent requests. You are welcome to submit a request for other times, and I will do my best to accommodate your learner's schedule.

✨POLICIES:
Siblings - Please note each learner that wants to participate in a class must be enrolled to be fair to other students participating. If you have more than one learner enrolled in the class, they are welcome to share a screen during class.

Refunds - Per Outschool's limited refund policy: "Full refund within 24 hours of purchase or up to a week in advance of the class." Please ensure the time is AM or PM when signing up as missed classes are non-refundable.

All of our group classes follow Outschool's policy to end class after 10 minutes of starting if no learners are present. Our 1:1 classes will remain open for 20 minutes after start time.

Transfers - We ask for transfer requests to be submitted at least 24 hours before the class start time. This ensures another learner may have the opportunity to take the class when the spot becomes available. If contacted after class, a refund or transfer cannot be completed.

**We do understand personal/family emergencies come up and will do our best to support you. If your learner is withdrawn on your end within the non-refundable period, we are unable to transfer you or reschedule a meeting. It is best to contact ThriveMind Academy first for your options.**

Please test Zoom before class. We like to be fully present with students as soon as we begin class, and do not access conversations or classroom comments on Outschool after the class has already started.

Learner minimums - All of our classes will continue as scheduled even if there's one learner enrolled. (:

Thank you for trusting us with your learner in class!💕
