課堂經歷
In these half-hour sessions, your child will identify their long-term and short-term music learning goals and receive personalized music tutoring based on their unique learning needs, whether it's reading sheet music, practicing rhythms, private lesson support, help with school music songs, music assignments, or test preparation. All learning activities, assignments and assessments are modified in order to support the needs of a neurodiverse learner. 🍎 What Will Be Taught Music instruction and curriculum will be developed and guided based on the background and information provided by the parent/guardian on the intake form upon enrollment. 🎶 Topics Covered Topics covered will depend on what the parent/guardian identifies on the initial intake form (form provided upon enrollment). Parents/guardians may opt for specific musical skill development or help with a specific task such as music homework or learning a song. Additional music learning topics may be added over time based on learner need observed through teacher observation. 🏫 Class Structure These are ongoing 30-minute private music tutoring sessions, structured to provide personalized instruction to effectively accommodate the neurodiverse music learner. 👩🏼🏫 Teaching Style Hi! For learners under the age of 13, this class may utilize Outschool-approved, COPAA-compliant third-party resources, including Google Forms, Kahoot, and Google Slides. Learners need a Google account for Google Forms and Slides but not for Kahoot. For learners over 13, additional tools like Easel by TPT and Boom Learning may be utilized for skill reinforcement, but parental consent is required. Easel by TPT requires a Google account, and Boom Cards may require either a Google account or a teacher-created Boom account. Safe and responsible use of these third-party tools is my priority and families are encouraged to contact me for additional information when making an informed decision regarding the use of TPT Easel and/or Boom Learning with any enrolled learner over the age of thirteen

Hello! My name is Miss Suzanne, and I'm excited to offer these personalized 1:1 music tutor sessions to support the neurodivergent community. I'm also a neurodivergent learner, so I know firsthand what it's like to struggle with a subject you want to master. This course holds a special place in my heart because, in the first grade, I was diagnosed with a learning disability and ADHD. I always loved music, but learning it was an uphill battle. While my classmates made strides on their instruments, my learning disability made concepts like rhythm, subdivision, and syncopation seem impossible. My struggles left me feeling inadequate and like I was falling behind. Thankfully, I eventually conquered my challenges, but it was quite the journey. My mission in creating this class is to offer direct support to learners who, like me, have faced these struggles.
Now I'll share a bit about my professional background. I hold a bachelor of arts in music education and have spent a decade in public schools and as a private lessons instructor. Over the years, I've had the privilege of guiding thousands of students, including those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, executive functioning challenges and more on their musical journeys. I work closely with families and educational stakeholders to gather all the insights I can and tailor my tutoring to support their learning goals. I encourage families to share as much as they're comfortable with in order to craft a customized instructional plan that suits the learner. All information shared is kept private and confidential.
As someone who has faced their own musical learning struggles, I've developed a ton of teaching techniques to tackle the musical concepts that neurodivergent learners often find perplexing. Why? Because I've been in their shoes! When it comes to teaching rhythm alone, I've got an arsenal of strategies. I take immense pride in overcoming my music learning challenges, and I'm hopeful that these tutoring sessions will reach the learners who need specialized support they haven't been able to find with other music teachers.
