In this course students math skills will be assessed during the first tutoring session.  This will help me to plan for future sessions which will focus on the students mathematical gaps.  We will build on these gaps and turn them into strengths by working on strategies that will help develop students mathematical understanding.  Each class will include three parts; a math activation, which is a quick fun math activity to get our math minds working.  Next, the lesson will be "Minds On'  this will be the lesson portion of the class.  Last, will be the consolidation where we talk about what we learned in class and it might include an exit card which is a quick assessment of student learning.   Some examples of topics that a session could focus on are multiplication facts, division skills, addition and subtraction skills and words problems.
