This specialized tutoring session provides students with expert guidance from a PhD-level instructor, editor-in-chief, and professor with over a decade of experience helping students succeed in language exams. Designed for SAT, SSAT, PSAT, ACT preparation, each session combines personalized error analysis, collaborative problem-solving, and independent assignments to build the skills needed to excel in reading comprehension.

In each session, students will receive in-depth feedback on assigned reading work, tackle challenging problems alongside the instructor, and develop a personalized strategy for tackling different question types. With insights from an experienced editor, students will gain a unique understanding of text structure, tone, and vocabulary—key components in mastering standardized reading comprehension sections.

Class Structure:

Each 55-minute 1-on-1 session includes:
Review & Error Clinic (15 minutes): Analysis of the student’s completed reading work, including pinpointing and correcting errors. The instructor discusses effective approaches and identifies any recurring challenges.
Collaborative Problem-Solving (20 minutes): The instructor works side-by-side with the student on select challenging questions, guiding them through the process of analyzing passages, choosing answers, and refining techniques.
Assignment Planning & Independent Work (15 minutes): The student is given new reading or practice passages to complete independently, with guidance on what to focus on. This independent work will be reviewed in the next session to track progress and address areas of need.
Session Recap & Strategies (5 minutes): Key takeaways and strategies from the session are summarized, ensuring the student leaves with a clear understanding of areas for improvement and specific techniques to practice.
