1-on-1 Reading Tutoring/Intensive Intervention. Private Reading Tutor for Kids.

I first started out tutoring when I was in high school, by going over to the junior high twice a week and working with kids that needed extra work. Then when I was in college, I continued my tutoring with middle schoolers and highschoolers. I also volunteered with my school’s library to do tutoring with fellow college students. When I graduated college, I started teaching and tutoring a much larger age range of kids. While my approaches have changed over the years, all of my experience has led me to who I am today. 

As stated, I have used multiple different techniques to help children learn to read and improve their reading skills. My son was a young, struggling reader. I was determined to help him read, so I set out to research and rake in all the knowledge I could. Over the course of this time, I became well versed in structured literacy approaches, Orton-Gillingham being one of them. I took multiple courses to help strengthen my knowledge of this and the importance of multi-sensory approaches to helping children with dyslexia. My son was the first learner I used these approaches on, and he made amazing progress. He now reads 3 levels above his grade and more importantly, he LOVES it! Since then, I was fortunate enough to use my expertise to help children in our local co-op. I have done private tutoring for several years, but I am new to the outschool platform.
