After the coding assessment, Mr. Hun will assign the young coder a ranking of beginner (low, middle, or high) or intermediate (low, middle, or high) or advanced (low, middle, or high).

FYI: This session is not meant to be an introduction to coding (or computer programming) for a learner who has not had any previous coding experience. This coding assessment assumes the learner has some previous coding experience. 

1. Meet & Greet
What is the young coder's current or previous coding experience?
What are the young coder's goals & expectations? 

2. Coding Quiz
The young coder will take an online coding quiz. 
Then assess their score.
Which coding topics does the young coder need to review? 

3. Coding Exercises
The young coder will complete selected coding exercises to further determine which coding topics they may require further review.

4. Coding Concepts Review
Can the young coder explain in their own words the following coding concepts?
ABSTRACTION
VALUE 
VARIABLE
INTEGER 
FLOAT 
STRING
BOOLEAN 
PROCEDURE/FUNCTION/METHOD
CLASS
OBJECT 
SYNTAX

5. Assessment Summary

先決條件

This coding assessment session assumes the learner has some previous coding experience. Recently or in the past. This coding assessment is not meant to be an introduction to coding for a learner who has no previous coding experience.

供應清單

At the minimum, the learner should use a tablet with a wireless keyboard and/or mouse. With a properly working webcam. 

Preferably, if possible, a laptop or desktop (personal) computer with a keyboard and a mouse. With a properly working webcam. Either Mac or Windows or Linux.

Mr. Hun has been teaching coding and computer science to elementary/middle/JHS/HS students since 2019. 
Both online and in-person.
Learners living in NY, California, Texas, South Korea, the UK, and Germany. 
Both working with a local tutoring center in SoCal and online with Outschool.
Mr. Hun has taught Python, Java, Scratch, C#, JavaScript, and HTML & CSS.
Also, helped students prepare for the AP CSP (Computer Science Principles) exam and the AP CS (Computer Science) A exam. 
Mr. Hun has coached ACSL (American Computer Science League) teams, Elementary & Classroom teams, for the following seasons: 
2021-2022
2022-2023
2023-2024
2024-2025
Mr. Hun has worked in the IT field on Wall St. (NYC) for a decade. 
Mr. Hun graduated from Hunter College (CUNY) with a BA in CS with a minor in math.
