During each 30-minute session, the student will receive one-on-one help in the area selected by the parent. These sessions will provide the student with the consistency needed to build strong reading skills and teach them to use the strategies required to solve problem words or math problems. I can follow the parent's suggestions, or if you would like, I can choose the strategies to be taught during each session. Here is a list of just some of the areas I provide help with; • Letter and sound recognition • Sight words • Phonemic Awareness • Phonics • Grammar • Guided Reading Strategies

The main goal of guided reading is to assist the student with using reading strategies, learning vocabulary, increasing fluency, gaining comprehension, and learning to read independently.

I believe that learning to read starts with having excellent listening skills. I also believe in working tirelessly for each of my students to help lessen their struggles. I strive to find what sparks my students’ interests and incorporate those ideas into my teaching. I never underestimate my students, and I encourage them to put forth the effort needed to succeed.
I am a mother of two adult sons and the grandmother of one grandson.
