This course offers individualized one-to-one instruction in reading.

My goal is to build on your student's academic abilities to meet their individual needs.  I like to create a personal connection to build confidence as well.  
Academic instruction will evolve over time and is based on student needs.  Typically, it will involve work with:
Phonics (letter sounds-resource Words Their Way)
Decoding (using letter sounds to read new words)
Vocabulary (building knowledge of words and what they mean)
Comprehension (understanding what I read. Resource: Epic Books).

Instruction will be collaborative, with lots of back and forth between instructor and student.  Students will need to understand their learning goals and participate in achieving such goals.   At times I will share a Google Doc allowing for interactive engagement from students.

*Starting June 2024 I am available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  Please reach out if you do not see a time slot open on those days that will work with your schedule. Often, I am able to move things around to make it work!

*When registering for this course it is helpful if you can provide general information about your child's current abilities (i.e. strengths, interests, and guided reading level-if appropriate).
