There will be regular informal assessments throughout the classes, in which I will give feedback on the songs that the child plays, as part of the lesson. This will include feedback on what they did well, and how they can improve.

課堂經歷

Embrace and enhance your child's creativity with fun and engaging piano classes! In these 1-1 sessions, I create a supportive, engaging environment which balances structured tasks with free time for creativity and exploration.

I will firstly assess the child's level, before recommending a suitable book (usually Piano Time 1) for them to use to develop their skills. This will include reading music and understanding notation and rhythm, through the form of short melodies. I will then further their understanding of the lesson through games, including flashcards, guess the note, hangman and more. 

The second part of the lesson is more free. 

Students have the option to learn a songs of their choosing, or to create their own song. We will usually cover both over the course of the sessions. 

Choosing their own song:

Once a song has been chosen, I will find a suitable arrangement (or create one) for their level. (Please note: I ask that the song choice is given in advance to allow time for me to do this).

Creating their own song:

This element will be based on their use of imagination, using their skills to apply to their own songs. 

This will then be free time, where your child has the chance to have a go at playing whichever notes they like. I will play the part of gently guiding them to help create a song/melody/tune that they are happy with. 

Some examples from previous students:

- Creating stories and adding particular sounds to emphasise the words.
- Creating an imaginary video game and making melodies for the characters, demos, scene changes
- Writing their own song or tune.


Throughout the lesson, I will give your child the opportunity to ask questions, and I regularly check in with them to see how they feel about a certain idea. For example, if they have just played a song through, I may ask them how they now feel about that song, giving them the opportunity for self evaluation and to check in with themselves and voice their feelings. 

As these are 1-1 lessons, they sessions will differ slightly between students. Individual lessons may vary as some topics may need more practise and time than others. 

No background knowledge is required to begin these classes.
