수업 소개

Students will use items like crackers, straws and M&Ms to represent the hundreds, tens and ones place value. Students will review place value and use their objects to subtract numbers from 0-500 without regrouping. I will be using slides as well as showing my objects to demonstrate how to subtract. Students will interact with one another as well as me as they help describe the subtraction steps in the right order as we solve problems together. Students will solve word problems as well as create their own subtraction problems for another student to solve.
This class is a great class for your student if they need a refresher or extra support with subtracting.

We will be using objects to represent the hundreds, tens and ones place. Objects you can choose to use. *You only need to choose one object for hundreds, one object for tens, and one object for ones. 
Hundreds- square crackers, cheese it crackers, chex cereal (or anything square and about this size.)...
Tens- straws (cut to be about 2 inches), toothpicks, pull apart licorice(cut to about 2 inchese), spaghetti noodles- 2 inches...
Ones- skittles, M&Ms, cheerios, fruit loops, jelly beans...
This are just ideas. I will be using chex cereal, toothpicks and M&Ms. You will need at least 10 of each object. More for snacking! 
A place value chart will be available to download once enrolled. If you want, you can put it in a sheet protector and it will become a whiteboard to use.

Hello!  My name is Natalie! I am a former Special Education Resource Teacher of 4 years.  I have taught grades K-6 reading, writing and math small groups. I taught students with learning disabilities for 30 to 45 minutes  a day, then they would go back to their homeroom class. 

I love teaching students new strategies to solve problems. Everyone learns differently and everyone can absolutely learn and succeed. I love seeing my students finally understand math watch their confidence grow and have a blast learning! I love helping students learn to use the different tools in their tool box to solve a math problem. There are multiple ways a problem can be solved. I love teaching different strategies because one will work for students over the other. 
Math can be viewed as hard, boring and daunting. It is my goal to make  math fun, have students feel successful and tackle a math problem with confidence!
