Our Creative Writing Class aims to develop essential skills in young writers. Students will master plot development by understanding and applying various structures, and they will create captivating, memorable characters. They'll learn to craft effective, natural dialogue and build immersive, engaging settings. The course enhances descriptive writing through sensory details and teaches the application of figurative language to enrich storytelling. Students will explore different genres, experiment with their writing, and develop realistic character relationships. They'll navigate the basics of the publishing process and find kid-friendly platforms. Additionally, students will learn to set mood and tone, overcome writer's block with effective strategies, and use writing structure—such as paragraphs and sentence length—to impact readability and enhance their work.

Anna Scanlan is a reader, writer, filmmaker, and love of history! She loves teaching in an interactive manner that allows you to learn hands on: even in a virtual environment. Through choose-your-own-adventures, simulations, videos, mysteries, and much more, you’ll get to be a part of your learning. Anna wants to make sure that you thrive in her classes and is willing to meet you at your learning pace, whatever that may be.
