계절에 따른 글쓰기: 주간 문단 쓰기 워크숍

Through the Seasons: A Weekly Paragraph Workshop is designed to help students strengthen their paragraph writing skills through engaging, seasonally inspired prompts. Each week, students will explore a new topic tied to the current season, holiday, or yearly event, allowing them to connect with our world and reflect on the changes happening around them. Along with these seasonal prompts, the class will incorporate weekly icebreakers to foster a supportive and creative writing environment. Whether you are a beginner or looking to refine your writing, this class offers an opportunity to practice clear, effective paragraph construction while building confidence in your writing abilities.

Our schedule for January and February is as follows:

Week of January 5th- Narrative paragraph
"The best gift that you received or gave this holiday season"

Week of January 12th-Narrative paragraph
"New Year's Thoughts: What Bucket List Item have you completed?"

Week of January 19th-Narrative paragraph
"What is your favorite winter tradition?"

Week of January 26th-Narrative paragraph
"MLK Jr. Day: Tell about a challenge you have overcome"

Week of February 2nd- Expository paragraph
"Groundhog Day: More snow? Let's write a how-to paragraph for winter."

Week of February 9th- Expository paragraph
"Valentine's Day: Write about someone that you love or admire."

Week of February 16th- Informative paragraph
"President's Day: If you were the President..."

Week of February 23rd- Informative paragraph
"Leap Year Thoughts: What will/could your life be life four years from now."

The class will be structured in the following way:
1. Class introductions and icebreaker
2. Choose a paragraph topic based on our icebreaker.
3. Let's brainstorm! (learning time about the type of paragraph being written)
4. Make an outline. (using the graphic organizer provided)
5. Rough draft
6. Revise, check, and polish
7. Final draft

We will vary the types of paragraphs that we write. (expository, informative, narrative, compare and contrast, persuasive, descriptive)
Our goal to to set your middle schooler up for writing success in high school through practicing the writing process in a small, manageable amount each week.
