Writing Now Pre-K will get your child ready to begin reading and writing in sentences.  

Each week we will:
- Read together a Beginning of Kindergarten Level reader that focuses on a sight word
- Teacher will read, focusing on initial word sounds.  
- As a group, we will write a guided sentence.  We will discuss the sentence and map out how many words in each sentence.  We will stretch words listening for individual sounds (phonemes) using phonemic awareness skills.  The class routine will follow the "I do, we do, you do" model as needed.  

Our goal each week will be to make a mark for each word and attempt at least one sound in each word.  More advanced learners may write more sounds for each word.  Also, our goal will be to build on this skill and increase our letter-sound knowledge each week.

The teacher will write the sentence on camera.  Students may write along with the teacher if they wish.  Students that are not ready to write with the teacher may observe and participate verbally.

Any additional time will be spent engaged in activities related to letter sounds (print outs will be provided, but not required).

How do you know if this class is right for your child?  Your child should know:
- identify most upper and lower case letter names
- identify at least 3 letter sounds
- show interest in learning to write

****If your child knows all letters, upper and lower case, and most letter sounds then this class will be too easy.  They are ready for the next level class "Writing Now"****
