Need to write your personal statement and don't want to spend months belaboring it? This course is designed to help students write the dreaded college application personal statement in 2 short weeks. This intimidating task typically creates anxiety for students, so my two sessions will breakdown the process into digestible bits, allowing students to create a piece they can feel confident submitting with their applications.

Session 1 will breakdown the prompt and overall goals of the personal statement. Students will participate in stream of consciousness activity to help create a possible menu of topics, and we'll start drafting by using a template I designed to help focus their efforts.

Session 2 will focus on writing powerful introductions and conclusions. Students will learn how to think and write introspectively which will show colleges a mature writer's voice. Students will receive some peer feedback during this session and will receive 2 additional rounds of feedback from me (via email) as they continue to revise their essays after the second session.
