This is it! Outschool's original ongoing Country Studies class. Every week, we will study the physical and human geography of one country, with an emphasis on physical geography. WE ARE ON LESSON #154 - SAN MARINO! Please scroll down to see upcoming countries. I have taught Geography for decades and Country Studies is my thing! Come join us. There are quite a few students who have been with me for more than two years.... since I started this ongoing class back in early 2021. Each lesson...
Students will gain a better understanding of the geography, culture, economics, history, governments, etc. of countries all over the world. The study of Geography has so much to offer. I would like to share what a recent US president said about studying Geography..... "The study of geography is about more than just memorizing places on a map. It's about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it's about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together." I can not agree more with these statements.

Students should have access to a printer so they may print out their maps. I usually have up to three maps and a list of map locations for each lesson.제공되는 평가

Pencil Eraser Ruler Medium-sized black marker Fat Highlighter Some colored pencils - Just a few will do. Students will need access to a printer so they may print out the PDF maps I send them. These maps should be printed out before camp meetings so that they may be used during camp. Sometimes we might use more than one map.... it all depends on the country.

I create all my lessons on Nearpod. The learners will be given a link to the Nearpod lesson at the beginning of each class. Learners should be familiar with splitting their screen, where Zoom will be on one side of the screen and the Nearpod lesson will be on the other side of the screen. This skill is not difficult to learn. If this is an unfamiliar skill for the learner, the parent may wish to assist the learner for the first lesson or two. Instead of splitting their screens, some learners choose to use two devices, which is ideal.
I use MANY resources. It's not possible to list them all.... it depends on the country. Below is a list of the sources I use the most. Google Earth Google Maps Nearpod.com d-maps.com freedomhouse.com The Economist Magazine The Economist Group's Democracy Index Foreign Affairs Magazine Al-Jazeera Wikipedia DW News Goode's World Atlas Sea Change - An Atlas of Islands in a Rising Ocean by Christina Gerhardt The Council on Foreign Relations National Geographic Magazine Foreign Policy Magazine The United Nations - Various newsletters Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshall Most of Simon Winchester's books - Check them out! Rivers of Power by Lawrence C. Smith Sapiens - by Yuval Noah Harari - The book and also his graphic novels The OER Project Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond ..... and MANY other books dealing with more specific subjects/countries/regions, etc.
