Then this class is for you! 😄 Welcome to Word Warriors and Vocab Champs: Mastering Vocabulary — a fast-paced, creative, and hilariously fun 30 minute vocabulary adventure for learners ages 10–14! This brand-new class is perfect for kids who have taken my Idioms & Vocabulary Cartoons class and are ready to level up, or for any word-loving student who wants to flex their brain power with advanced vocabulary, idioms, and wordplay. 🧠 Each week, students will: Master 4 high-level vocabulary words Learn synonyms and antonyms Break down a fun idiom or figure of speech Explore word origins, roots, pronunciation and historical usage Understand words through rhymes, humor, visuals, and context Daily review games! Monthly Gimkit, Kahoot orQuizlet full class game reviews! No prior experience is needed and students can drop in any week — every lesson is designed to stand on its own. ✏️ Ongoing classes mean new words are introduced every week, so you can join any time and never feel lost! Just bring paper, a pen, and a device for Kahoot! Hello, and welcome!! My students (and friends) call me Ms. Erica!
I love idioms! I love vocabulary! My parents often spoke in parables around the house when I was young. Since discovering the term “idioms” as a child, I’ve been a mental collector of them, reciting them often, researching their origins, history and stories since I was a kid! I also read the Childcraft Dictionary and Thesaurus for fun! While learning about idioms and vocabulary, I learned the beauty of language, culture, and became an avid reader and lover of vocabulary, adages, poems and other expressions of the English language! I still study them, so I would say I am a self-proclaimed expert in the field with a passion to share what I know!
I love poetry, art, music and different expressions of the human cultural experience!!! In my spare time I paint a lot! A lot can be learned through the music and artistic expression of people around the world.
Teaching is my passion, and for the past 22 years, I have been lucky to do what I love. I teach 3 classes totaling about 90 teenagers daily. I run a Multi-Cultural Homeschooling Group of over 200 families where I teach children ages 8-12 a variety of subjects. I am also a full-time homeschooling mom to my amazing 11-year-old daughter.
I have a passion to share what I know! In my classes I provide extraordinary experiences through unique use of humor and video during lessons making learning fun in our relaxed classroom setting.
I am always excited to learn new things! The best investment you can make is the one you make in yourself! I work consistently to improve my skills, and continuing professional training is absolutely an integral part. Every year I take advanced instructor training courses to stay abreast of the current teaching methods and techniques available to prepare for fantastic individual learning opportunities. I pride myself on this.
