I will be able to identify the obstacles that Bethany Hamilton was able to overcome throughout her career, as a professional surfer and personal life. I will be able to detail the accomplishments that Bethany Hamilton has achieved. I will be able to identify techniques Bethany used to overcome of her fear of sharks and calm her anxiety over getting into the ocean again. Through direct instruction and collaborative discussion learners will be able to learn more about the personal history and events in the life of Bethany Hamilton. Learners will be able to share what they already know about Bethany or what they would like to know. Students will discuss Bethany's early career, the details of the incident that she experienced and how she found the strength to overcome it. Furthermore, learners will see how Bethany has adapted to her new life, as a mom, a successful author and a champion surfer. This class will be an ideal mix of open discussion, teacher-led instruction, video clips and Google Slides.
