In this seven week course, I will help learners improve their skills in horse judging. We will focus on conformation and disposition, balance, horse terminology, horse anatomy and physiology, understanding the "science" behind taking reasons notes correctly, writing reasons and placings as well as build our confidence in public speaking through presentation or oral reasons.

Each week we will spend time on a different topic and learners will have homework that I will check the following week through both oral and written (kahoot style) tests and quizzes. The goal of this class is for learners to score highly in their respective horse judging competitions and improve their public speaking skills. 

I like to teach as if we were in person, lots of engagement with one another through sharing experiences, questions and demonstrations. We are in this together and will help each other build our strengths. I am relaxed, but organized. I like to have fun, but stay on track as well. 

Learners are expected to be involved in horse judging, hippology and/or quiz bowl teams or individually through FFA , 4H or horse associations to be enrolled in this class. 

Week 1 - introductions and horse terminology/anatomy identification and games 
week 2 - conformation and disposition, balance, physiology, unsoundness and blemishes
week 3 - beginning reasons - how to take correct notes and written reasons. descriptive words. Learners will be expected to memorize basic reasons
week 4- more reasons and placing practice. Organizing notes to allow for ease of presentation. Top and bottom pair reasoning.
week 5- test on information learned from weeks 1 and 2, scoring on reasons presentations
week 6- judging classes of horses, more oral reasons
week 7 - test on prior 6 weeks, judging horses and oral reasons.
