Do you ever wonder why we have two different pronunciations and meanings for "live"? Do you wonder why we say "cat go your tongue" or any of hundreds of other idioms? Why is our grammar so complicated!? Well that's what this class will be about. In this weekly class students we will listen to episodes of "The History of English" podcast, stopping at various points through the podcast to discuss what we have learned. Students will interact with each other on each break in the podcast and talk...
Students will learn new things about the English Language and understand why it is the way it is.
I have an M.Ed in TESOL (English teaching). I have also studied history for most of my life including about 50 hours worth of this History of English Podcast up through Middle English. I also run a podcast on my own so I'm familiar with these.
Students should bring a notebook and pencil/pen if they want to write things down.
