In this Weekly Ongoing class, students will create a variety of artworks, learning new techniques and experimenting with different art mediums and is organized by Unit. We will create art that is inspired by different artists' styles or subjects, while developing skills and craftsmanship along the way! We will have a lot of fun too! My learners will be engaged in hands-on learning activities and get to interact with myself and each other in every class meeting. The structure of this class is a combination of teacher guided instruction, demonstration, independent practice and interacting with each other through discussion. The classroom space is inclusive, one in which each student will feel safe, understood, respected and valued. *Siblings and/or co-learners must be enrolled to attend and participate in the class. Weekly Course Curriculum: Each live class weekly meeting in our , we will actively engage hands-on in the creative process each day using our basic art supplies, our imagination and fun social interaction. Students will learn an array of art making skills that they can build on as a lifelong learning journey. This is an appropriate foundations art class for beginners and artists of all levels. Each few weeks, we will focus on a different art medium and in each class meeting we will create a new, original artwork together, do some sharing and socialize. WEEK BY WEEK BREAKDOWN: Week 1: Welcome to my class! Introductions, Ice-Breaker and Art Lesson Who am I Art? Week 2: Introduction to Paper Arts - Colorful Tree Collage Week 3: Paper Arts - Paper Weaving Week 4: Paper Arts - Mixed Media Collage Week 5: Introduction to Drawing- Line Design Week 6: Drawing - Directed Line Drawing 1 Week 7: Drawing - Directed Line Drawing 2 Week 8: Introduction to Painting- Mixing Paints with Painted Papers Week 9: Painting- Painted paper +Experimenting with Textures Week 10: Painting- Silhouette Landscape Week 11: Intro to Drawing & Rendering with Oil Pastels Week 12: - Drawing & Rendering with Oil Pastels Week 13: Intro to Watercolor Painting: Techniques and Skill building Week 14: Watercolor Painting: Seasonal Artwork and Skill building 1 Week 15: Watercolor Painting: Seasonal Artwork Skill building 2 Week 16: Watercolor Painting: Seasonal Artwork Skill building 3 Week 17: Watercolor Painting: Seasonal Artwork Skill building 4 We will be using a wide variety of art media/materials throughout this weekly course; review the list of suggested supplies in this class listing. WELCOME! The art supplies outlined here are for the entire course from Week 1 onwards. If you enroll at a date after Week 1, simply have the supplies for that week and onwards. Art Supplies List: PAINTS: + Watercolor Paints- (set comes with a palette) AND Tempera Paints + palette or paper plate OIL PASTELS: +*Any Brand Oil Pastels - -Pentel, Sakura are good brands, any quantity/brand of colors- $7 and up *I am using Pentel 36 color set ** Please have a white oil pastel** PAPERS: + White drawing paper letter size or 9 X 12 inches + Colored construction paper, variety pack of rainbow colors + Letter size cardstock paper + Watercolor paper* 9X12 inches is a recommended size for our projects *I highly suggest having watercolor paper and/or heavy-weight paper, as it is designed to hold water and paint and will not buckle or warp. Watercolor paper is 90-140lb weight paper. BRUSHES: + A variety of paint brushes sizes and shapes - watercolor brushes (soft bristles) - other brushes are good for tempera paints ART TOOLS: (basics) + Paste stick and white glue + Scissors + Ruler + Pencil/Eraser + Collage materials (colored papers, magazine cut-outs etc) + Water container - can be an up-cycled yogurt container, jar, etc. + paper towel sheets + sharpened pencil/eraser + Some Q-tips (10) + newspaper or plastic table cloth to cover your work area, table top. (optional) + Apron (can be a re-purposed cooking apron) + Blue painters tape OR washi tape + Mod Podge A note to students and parents: Please be ready to start with all of your art supplies and have your work area set up near you; we will be starting promptly at the scheduled class time each day. I am offering this class because I love art making, and have an art studio in my home where I make art big and small, almost every day. My own unique style of art making incorporates mixed media, it's awesome. I love creating something beautiful that didn’t exist ever before! I have been making art since I was three-years old and grew up in a home environment where creativity was a way of life.
I’ve always been creative and interested in colors, textures, textiles, fashion design and traveling the globe appreciating diverse cultures. I am inspired by nature, the cosmos and color most of all! To me, making art, expressing myself creatively and teaching others to do that, are as natural as breathing. Kids of all ages love my inspired, relaxed and energetic style of teaching art. I have been teaching art in formal settings for over 15 years.
