We will learn the basics of water color painting in this 90 minute class! We will start with a little background about watercolor painting by learning about a few artists who liked to use this medium. Then, we will talk about colors and why we use certain ones for different things. Finally, we get to paint! We will practice using water on the paint so we can get the right amount of pigment: not too dark, not too light. Then we will practice a few different basic brush strokes to use in our final painting. The last thing we will do in the class is make a simple landscape of mountains in front of a lake. My teaching style is interactive. I like to have students participate as much as possible, so I let them express thoughts while they are painting. The beginning lesson will be through slides, with opportunities to ask questions as we go. Afterwards, I will show my materials to students and use my camera to show them how I make brush strokes. I will model then have students show me what they can do. I will offer feedback to each student as they finish. For the final project, we will go step by step as a group so that students understand the process.
