Each class will cover STEM-related topics aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. Classes will feature hands-on demonstrations, science experiments, discussion questions, and creative projects that spark curiosity. Additionally, worksheets containing supporting activities will be provided for each class, integrating both creative and academic curricula. Students will be encouraged to observe, ask questions, and share their knowledge with their peers.
Students may participate in one class, or join for a full week! Students who complete a full week of consecutive classes receive a certificate of completion. Students who complete 3 weeks will receive a free Virtual Science Summer Camp T-shirt. Students who complete all 4 weeks receive a T-shirt plus 3 free classes for next summer!
Class Description:
Week 1: At Home Chemistry (06/02-06/06)
Students explore the scientific method and conduct experiments using household items.
Monday: Magic Milk
Tuesday: Acid/ Base reactions
Wednesday: Oil and Water
Thursday: Capillary Action
Friday: Polymers & Slime
Week 2: Craft Science (06/09-06-13)
Students exercise their creative skills to make beautiful artwork using science topics.
Monday: Rainbow science
Tuesday: Magnet art
Wednesday: Bubble science
Thursday: Salt Art
Friday: Butterfly science
Week 3: Rocket Science (06/16-06/20)
Students learn how rockets work and create different types using household items.
Monday: Balloon Rockets
Tuesday: Paper rockets, paper airplanes
Wednesday: Water bottle rocket
Thursday: Pom-pom rockets
Friday: Mini rocket launchers
Week 4: Magic Science (06/23-06/27)
Students conduct science experiments that look just like magic!
Monday: Surface tension
Tuesday: Static electricity
Wednesday: Illusions
Thursday: Thaumatropes

Students will enhance their understanding of the scientific method and gain practical experience in using it.Students will practice basic scientific skills such as classifying, comparing, and communicating observations with their peers.
