¡ Vamos a Leer! 4주 스페인어 읽기 강좌 "Un Panda Gigante"

This 4-week, low-intermediate Spanish course is part of our new ¡Vamos a Leer! reading series. It's a unique reading series that gives learners the opportunity to read a new Spanish book, while learning about a variety of topics and improving their Spanish skills. By immersing learners in exciting, high interest topics, they're given a starting point to practice their Spanish speaking abilities, improve writing skills, pronunciation, and reading comprehension.

The book that will be read in this course, "Tian Tian, Un Panda Gigante," 🐼 is a nonfiction book written by Melanie Shepherd. Learners must have a low-intermediate level of Spanish (be able to carry on simple everyday conversations) with an acquired vocabulary of 800+ words. Throughout this course, learners will gain knowledge about giant pandas' habitats, diet, description, and playful nature. The reading material will be introduced through short introductory conversations, aimed to evoke background knowledge. Learners will also complete fun, interactive vocabulary building and choral reading exercises together throughout the course. 

Below is the course outline:

📖 Week #1: Introduce new vocabulary and build background knowledge prior to reading. Begin reading the first few pages of the book.

📖 Week #2: Review new vocabulary and practice using it in context. Continue reading the book, placing an emphasis on developing reading comprehension skills. 

📖 Week #3: Introduce a new grammar point that will be presented in the story. Finish reading the book and practice the new grammar point in context.

📖 Week #4: Assess the book's vocabulary, content, and grammar points. Make cross-curricular connections.

This course recycles the material covered at the beginning of each class to check reading comprehension and ensure that new vocabulary is mastered. Interesting topics, like giant pandas, serve as the starting point for practicing speaking abilities, improving writing skills, pronunciation, and reading comprehension.
