Welcome to American Girl Doll Nanea! During our live sessions (one per week for 8 weeks), students will engage in a discussion of the book Nanea; The Spirit of Aloha as well as participate in activities that support learning of the historical time period of the 1940;s with specific attention to Pearl Harbor. Students will be exposed to different reading strategies, vocabulary exploration, discussion, map work, journal writes, and creative activities such as crafts, games, and even cooking....
students will improve their vocabulary skills thru weekly vocabulary exploration students will improve their comprehension thru discussion and reading students will gain knowledge of the 1940's thru activities and discussion students will learn thru theme topic exploration with activities and crafts
I have a multiple subject teaching credential and have taught k-12 in the public school system as well as in a homeschooling environment. I have successfully taught this class in a homeschool co-op as well. I have helped design social studies curriculum focusing around U.S. History for k-5 learners.

Week 3: Aloha postcard: Supplies: card stock or thicker paper • coloring supplies, pens, and pencils • tape or glue sticks safety scissors Week 4: Hawaiian Flower Crown Supplies: • Hawaiian Flower Crown craft sheets • safety scissors • adhesive dots or tape • pencils or pens Week 5: Make a Difference poster Supplies: • poster paper or larger size blank paper coloring supplies, pens, and pencils Week 7: Guava Bread 1⁄2 cup butter, softened • 1⁄2 tsp. salt • 1⁄4 tsp. cinnamon • 1⁄2 cup sour cream • 1 (6 oz.) can frozen guava juice concentrate, thawed • 3⁄4 cup sugar • 2 large eggs • 1 tsp. vanilla extract • 2 cups flour • 1 tsp. baking soda • 1 tsp. baking powder • 1⁄2 cup macadamia nuts, chopped
