This club is for students in grades 3-5 who love art. Members will work on independent projects as well as skill-based assignments to develop their artistic abilities. The club will also explore art history, providing members with a foundation they can use to expand their artistic knowledge. The club meets weekly for an hour and a half. Each week, our class will begin with an art history spotlight. This will be based on student interests and current projects. Students can suggest an art topic, time period, or an artist they'd like to learn about. Ms. Pollihan will then demonstrate a skill-building activity to give students a chance to learn something new. After this, they'll have independent work time to complete their self-driven projects. Here, they will be encouraged to consult with both myself and other students to gain feedback as they work. Topics Include: A weekly artist or art piece spotlight How to choose a subject for a self-driven project The elements and principles of art Skill-building art challenges such as Inktober and Mermay
