All fields of accounting are open to personal tutoring, including but not limited to:

-The Accounting Cycle
-Fundamentals of GAAP and Accounting Law
-Debits & Credits
-Financial Statements
-Trial Balances
-Job/Process Costing systems


Before starting a session, I would collect a general summary of problem areas (if any exist) to cater the session agenda so your learner can turn their weakest subject into their strongest.

When starting, I would ask what your learner understands about the material thus far.  What parts of accounting are they confident in?  What are their weaknesses?  How would they explain accounting processes in their own words?  This gives me insight into how they perceive what they've learned thus far, and allows me to use what they know to help them better understand later material.

Once I have a groundwork for what your learner knows and doesn't know, we'll start working on the most urgent areas of improvement.  My teaching method involves first explaining "what" we're learning, and "why" it exists (Why does this particular accounting law exist?  Why does this affect the accounting equation in a particular way? etc.), using the simplest language with as little accounting terminology as possible to help put it in laymen's terms.  Then, we dive deeper into the subject, introducing accounting terminology one word at a time, and giving understandable, real-world examples related to the topic.  At the end of that topic, we'll do a quick review to see how well your learner understands the material through uncomplicated, though in-depth quizzing.

Before the end of a tutoring session, we'll do a quick review of all material studied thus far, including problem areas we worked on.  I always like to leave students feeling motivated after a session, praising them when they pick up quickly on any material, or when they manage to understand an especially difficult topic.
