영어레벨 - A1
From the fall of the studio system to the rise of celebrity media, this 10-week course explores real-life crime and controversy in modern Hollywood—focusing not on the perpetrators, but on the victims, the power structures behind the scenes, and the role of media in shaping public perception. We’ll examine famous and lesser-known cases spanning 1960 to today, considering how changes in the industry—like the end of studio contracts, the explosion of celebrity press, and the rise of digital culture—reshaped Hollywood’s relationship with fame, crime, and accountability. Through guided discussion, media analysis, and empathy-driven storytelling, learners will explore the darker side of stardom while developing critical thinking skills about justice and media influence. Marilyn Monroe: Between Myth and Reality (1962)
Marilyn Monroe’s life and death mark a turning point between Old Hollywood’s tightly controlled studio system and the rise of the modern celebrity machine. In this session, learners will explore how her image was shaped, sold, and ultimately distorted—by the studios, the press, and the public. We’ll examine Monroe not as a glamorous icon or tragic cliché, but as a complex woman whose struggles with mental health, exploitation, and public scrutiny were tied to the power structures of the time.

학부모 가이드
This course explores real-life true crime cases from 1960 to the present, including topics such as domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, addiction, systemic racism, and media exploitation. These subjects are approached with care and framed within a context of media literacy, historical understanding, and empathy for the victims.
We do not use graphic imagery, crime scene photos, or sensationalized content. Instead, learners examine how stories are told in the press, how public perception is shaped, and how power and fame can obscure justice.
Some weeks—particularly those covering the OJ Simpson trial, the murder of Dorothy Stratten, and the Weinstein cases—involve emotionally heavy material. Class discussions are always moderated to ensure respectful, age-appropriate dialogue. Journaling and quiet reflection are offered as alternatives for learners who prefer not to speak in real-time.
This course is recommended for mature learners ages 14–18 who are ready to explore serious issues thoughtfully and respectfully. Parental discretion is advised.

석사 학위 역사 University of Colorado at Boulder에서
As an educator with a Master’s degree focused on film and art history, I bring a deep understanding of the cultural, historical, and artistic forces that shaped Hollywood’s development—both on screen and behind the scenes. My academic work centers the historical context of film production, including how power structures, media narratives, and visual culture have shaped public perception over time.
In this course, I combine that expertise with a commitment to critical thinking and ethical storytelling, helping learners explore true crime through a lens of empathy, media literacy, and historical awareness. My goal is to create a space where students can ask thoughtful questions, understand the complexities of early Hollywood, and develop tools to analyze the past—and the media they engage with today.
