We will use the Mathematics Vision Project Geometry/Secondary Math 1 module on Transformations and Symmetry as an outline and problem source, and occasionally various OpenStax math textbooks for additional problems and as a reference. 

Activities will follow approximately this schedule:
Week 1: Introduction to rigid transformations, GeoGebra, and background information review — 6.1 and other materials
Week 2: Slopes of perpendicular lines and working backwards — 6.2 and 6.3
Week 3: Writing and applying formal definitions and examining figures for symmetry — 6.4 and 6.5
Week 4: Properties of regular polygons and special quadrilaterals — 6.6 and 6.7

During group activities, learners will interact with the teacher and each other through verbal discussion and slides designed to be written on and organize our thinking, not just looked at, within the Explain Everything whiteboard platform. (Learners can either annotate from within Zoom, which will be reset as we move between slides but preserved in the session recording, or request the Explain Everything link, which will let them write directly on the board that will be exported into downloadable class notes. Learners' contributions will be checked for appropriateness, safety, and accuracy before being exported.)

Consistent regular attendance is expected. I will not remove learners from class for missing group activity sessions, but they must take responsibility for catching up, by watching the session video and doing all work. I will be available to help if they find anything tricky.

Learners will generally be more successful who are already familiar with these previous concepts: plotting points on a coordinate grid, the Pythagorean Theorem, parallel and perpendicular lines, linear equation solving, writing equations for lines, slope of lines, angle measurement in degrees, connections between fractions and division, regular polygons, and types of quadrilaterals. Needing to brush up, typical of back-to-school time after the summer slide, is OK!
