수업 소개
In my opinion, I have found that many young kids across the world struggle with tournament preparation. Why? Maybe it's due to a lack of playing opportunity, coaching, resources, or even a lack of a community. I know that challenge because many of my current students face that issue every day. That problem was my inspiration for making this class. Depending on where you live, it might not be easy to find opportunities to play and improve. My goal for every student in this class is to provide them skills, opportunities, and practice getting ready for their next big competition. Whether your next tournament is a small, local affair, or you're planning on playing in a national tournament, I believe we can get better together by playing games, learning from one another, and discussing about our own experiences. I will start each class with a tournament, giving all kids the opportunities to play games against each other and work on making good decisions at the chessboard. After we finish all of our games, I will then take the remainder of class reviewing those games with the entire class showing how we can learn from each other's mistakes, while celebrating each other's successes. I hope this class makes you enjoy chess as much as I do!

I hope kids in my class learn tools and skills to help them improve on their own- Even for me, this was not an easy thing until I met my current GM coach, Mykhaylo Oleksiyenko!Most kids who enroll in this class likely already have a good understanding of the game. I hope this class allows the kids to expand on the ideas they already know and grow their confidence in executing their ideas over the board.

For people looking to join this tournament training course, my hope is that they are in the age range 9-12 years old and have a OTB chess rating of 1000-1500. That way, every kid can understand the concepts and communicate with each other.

Every student will need to have access to their own personal lichess account. We'll be playing all of our tournaments and activities through that website.

I am a USCF National Master and chess coach from Iowa City, Iowa. I have been teaching chess to players of all ages since 2022. Many of my students were selected to the US World Youth Cadet teams, as well as many others appearing on the top 100 lists for their age in the US. Ever since I started coaching chess, I've always had a passion to help the next generation.
