수업 소개
At The Sentence Garden, young writers plant ideas and nurture them into flourishing sentences. This imaginative, hands-on literacy journey meets twice a week for 8 weeks and helps young writers build confidence, a love for writing, and endless creative possibilities. Like many of my other classes, this class is limited to a small group of 4 learners to ensure each child receives individual attention, has ample opportunities to participate, and feels supported in their learning journey. Every class follows a consistent and engaging structure designed to support growing writers. 🌟CLASS STRUCTURE🌟 🌱Welcome & Word Play: We begin with a warm hello and a quick, silly game to spark our creative brains. 🌱Mini Lesson: A short, focused skill—like what makes a complete sentence or how to add exciting details. 🌱Guided Writing: We build something together—using games, visuals, or sentence-building cards. 🌱Independent Writing: Time for your learner to shine with their own creative writing, with support. 🌱Share & Celebrate: Learners can share their work (optional! Learners can participate at their own pace.) and receive constructive feedback. 🌱Wrap-Up & Takeaway: We end with a fun recap and a creative challenge to try at home! 🌟THEMES🌟 🌱 Week of 6/23/25: Seedling Sentences – What Makes a Sentence? We’ll plant the basics: capital letters, spacing, punctuation, and a complete thought. Learners will build strong sentence foundations. 🌿 Week of 6/30/25: Stretch & Grow – Adding Details to Sentences Time to make our sentences bloom! We’ll practice expanding simple sentences by adding who, what, where, when, and how. 🌼 Week of 7/7/25: Sentence Sprouts – Say It, Ask It, Exclaim It! We’ll explore telling, asking, and exclaiming sentences—and how punctuation gives them personality! 🌻 Week of 7/14/25: Colorful Combinations – Using Adjectives & Verbs Let’s bring our writing to life! We’ll experiment with vivid describing words and action-packed verbs to grow vibrant sentences. 🌸 Week 7/21/25: Word Garden Mix-Up – Playing with Word Order & Flow We’ll practice rearranging words to improve clarity, variety, and rhythm while keeping sentences strong and complete. 🌾 Week of 7/28/25: Sentence Pals – Using Joining Words We’ll learn how to combine ideas using simple conjunctions like and, but, and because to build longer, meaningful sentences. 🍃 Week 8/4/25: Fix-It & Flourish – Editing for Stronger Sentences We’ll become sentence gardeners—pruning and polishing our writing by spotting missing parts, fixing punctuation, and improving clarity. 🌺 Week 8/11/25: Bloom & Celebrate – My Best Sentences! Learners choose favorite sentences from past weeks to revise, decorate, and share. It’s a celebration of growth and creativity! 🌟 AT-HOME GARDEN CHALLENGES🌟 Each week, I’ll post a playful writing challenge to keep the creativity blooming between classes! These simple, optional activities help reinforce what we learned and give learners a fun way to grow their writing skills at home. Challenges can be shared with me if you would like feedback. If time allows they can also be shared in class. 🌟TEACHING APPROACH🌟 In The Sentence Garden, I blend creativity with structured learning to make writing an adventure. My approach is hands-on and interactive—using playful word games, guided writing activities, and opportunities for independent expression. I focus on building foundational literacy skills while celebrating each learner’s unique voice. This nurturing, imaginative environment helps children grow their confidence and creativity, ensuring that writing is both fun and meaningful for every learner. While I carefully plan each class, I also remain adaptable—allowing learners’ energy, ideas, and creativity to shape the flow of the class. I also foster a supportive environment where all learners feel comfortable participating at their own pace, whether that means speaking up, acting out, or sharing in the chat. I look forward to seeing how this class grows and evolves!
